Family Ranch
Red Bluff, CA
The location chosen for Trisha and Greg’s October wedding was serenely suited to them as a couple. “Dr. Greg” as he is fondly referred to, is a veterinarian, so what better location than the family’s ranch in the foothills east of Red Bluff.
The rustic setting of a working ranch strongly influenced the elements of design – leaves, trees and rough textures. Orange lilies and burgundy dahlias worked in harmony with the fall foliages that lined the corral. Shepherd’s hooks held wicker baskets hung from jute cording, and a natural jute runner led to a burlap-covered ceremonial platform. Two iron and glass stands were staggered to embrace the couple in color as they exchanged their vows. A carpet of fall foliages covered the ground.
The reception tent was a warm and elegant collection of brown, taupe and ivory. Chinese lanterns provided a magical glow and brown linens with burlap overlays carried the rustic theme. Table designs included lilies, dahlias, fall leaves and pomegranates – an artfully blended autumn palate.
While I can’t say I’ve had too many wedding in cow pastures, I can say the challenge of Greg and Trisha’s is what memories are made of! Lighting was generator powered and heaters were necessary to ward off the October chill. They say it’s good luck to have it rain on your wedding day, so I guess Greg and Trisha were the “luckiest” couple around as the heavens opened in their honor with a torrential downpour, leaving a magical “mist” after the rain passed
All was well … the celebration went on, the guests were cozy, and the bride was beautiful!
